Tiny air holes in the soft texture between the rings provide a natural insulation. All types of woods have air pockets in the soft texture between the rings. The advantage of Cypress is that you get a smaller air pocket that creates an insulating effect  which helps to keep your log home cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.

Also, due to the closeness of the growth rings, the cypress tends not to check  or shift  as much as other woods. Cypress requires little or no gaps to be left around doors or windows in the building process, further enhancing the insulating properties of a cypress log home.
